Educational Research Before 1900

The era of physical science began in the seventeenth century. Education was recognized as science only eight years ago. This was not due to the complex nature of the phenomena, but the reason was that delay in the formation of necessary measuring tools for education related research.For this reason, the history of many development works in education related research is related to the important findings in the measurement and testing process.

Education research has passed through many stages before coming into the modern form of objective study of the problem of this region.The history of its development can be divided into four realities in terms of convenience.

In 1803 Pestalozzi proposed a scientific study of pedagogue And established its Pedagogical School.In 1860, Sheldon started experimenting with Oswego  New York. In 1894, Hal made a questionnaire to collect information about children.The questionnaire was mainly subjects of education such as ‘start of writing’, school statistics, marks and maths, examinations and precedents, and some characteristic and temperament of schoolchildren.

Educational Research Before 1900, experiments conducted in the field of psychology on education research had great effect. Weber and Fechner prepared a series of early studies of astral consciousness. Wundt established a laboratory in Liverpool Germany in the year 1879. He had started experimenting with it since 1861. Ebbinghaus experimented on memory and showed that memory can be accurately measured from some technical method. The famous books of Francis Galton “Inquiries into Human Faculty and Its Development: examining the rules and results” and “Studying the human brain and its development”, which was published in 1883, is evidence that they gave special attention to individual variation and the inherited tradition of the brain. Galton had an impact on James McKeen Cattell, and he started dysfunctional and measuring with respect to sensitized motor functions, relative to human comprehension of individual differences of time. In the year 1890, he wrote an important article ‘Testing and measuring the brain’. From here the word ‘brain testing’ has been known for the first time in literature. Joseph M. Rice has offered to go to trials similar to Hizz on students in the year 1897. He is regarded as a leader in education research field.
